Located in the heart of Naples, Florida, Historic Palm Cottage stands as the city's oldest house, offering a captivating glimpse into the area's rich past.

Built in 1895, this 3,500-square-foot residence is preserved by the Naples Historical Society and serves as a museum that transports visitors back to the early days of Old Naples.

Located just a block east of the iconic Naples Pier, Palm Cottage is a cherished landmark that embodies the charm and history of the region.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Constructed by Walter N. Haldeman, the owner of the Louisville Courier Journal, Palm Cottage was initially intended as a winter retreat for his friend and editor, Henry Watterson.

The house is a rare example of tabby mortar construction, a building technique using a mixture of sand, shells, and water.

In 1982, Palm Cottage was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, solidifying its status as a vital piece of Naples' heritage.
