Bunker Hill Vineyard & Winery
8905 Bunker Hill Road
Bunker Hill, Florida 34219

This winery is located in Duette, a small community about 25 miles east of Tampa Bay on Florida State Road 62. The winery is located north of SR-62 on Bunker Hill Road.
The winery and vineyard are located on property that is a "Mini-Refuge". There are many of these refuges around the world that are set aside to protect the habitat of local wildlife.
Duette is in an area of Florida that has been impacted by the huge development activities in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton and Sarasota.
The land to the east of Duette has been ravaged by strip mining of phosphates for fertilizer.
Bunker Hill Vineyard and Winery is doing a service by providing this pristine habitat for the local animals rendered homeless by all of this development.
They are so serious about this effort that all of their wines are named after local wildlife.
Bunker Hill wines are made from muscadine grapes grown on the property in their own vineyard.
All of their wines are fermented with the skins still on the grapes, and no wine is bottled until it is at least one year old. Bunker Hill believes that leaving the skins on releases the flavors that are naturally in the skins.
All of their wines are unfiltered, using instead the labor intensive method of manual racking and gravity to achieve the clarity of the wine.
The final step in the wine making process is storage in a "wine cave" where the temperature is controlled in the range of 52 to 57 degrees F.
As a green business, Bunker Hill uses solar energy to generate electricity when possible, and they recycle almost everything.
The recycling includes an amazing wedding arch made out of 450 empty recycled wine bottles.
It glitters beautifully in the sunlight and is a perfect venue for an unusual wedding.
An thoughtful amenity at Bunker Hill is Water Garden Farm, a place where guests can stay for a reasonable rate.
This is a nice furnished 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house located in a secluded area of the property. It's a great place to enjoy the peace and quiet of this part of Old Florida. Call the vineyard for rates and availability.
Bunker Hill is open 7 days a week from 11am to 6pm.
The vineyard and winery is west of Duette. Take Bunker Hill Road north from State Road 62.
